Lady Pilgrims Battle #20 South Bend Adams The Plymouth Lady Pilgrims soccer program faced off against Class 3A No. 20 South Bend Adams on Thursday night, with Varsity falling 4–1 while the JV squad earned a hard-fought 2–2 draw. Varsity Recap The Varsity Pilgrims struck first when Ella Young converted a first-half penalty kick, giving Plymouth early momentum. However, Adams responded with steady pressure, capitalizing on scoring opportunities to secure the 4–1 victory. Plymouth showed composure in the attack, recording six shots on goal, while keeper Ella Muffley kept her side in the contest with seven saves. JV Recap The JV squad showed grit and resilience, twice coming from behind to even the match. Kenzie Ganshorn and Nevaeh Arnold each found the back of the net, helping Plymouth earn a well-deserved 2–2 draw against a strong Adams team. Takeaway Though the Varsity came up short, both squads demonstrated toughness and determination against one of the state’s ranked programs. The experience provided valuable lessons as the Lady Pilgrims continue through the heart of their NLC schedule. ⸻ Volleyball – Battling Warsaw The Freshman Lady Pilgrims showed growth in their contest with Warsaw, bouncing back from a 25–10 first-set loss to nearly force extras in the second before falling 25–21. The Plymouth JV Volleyball team dropped a straight-sets match to Warsaw Thursday night, 21–25, 22–25. Trenity Ringer led the way with 4 kills and 4 aces, while Cordelia Cofer added 4 kills and Paige Frank contributed 3 blocks. The JV squad now sits at 9–7 overall and will return to action Monday at home against Michigan City . The Varsity team went toe-to-toe with state-ranked Warsaw in a thrilling four-set battle. After dropping the first two sets (25–16, 25–17), Plymouth stormed back with a 26–24 win in the third and nearly extended the match before falling 26–24 in the fourth. Standouts included Olivia Ringer (29 assists, 13 digs), Jersey Hunter (11 kills, 1 block), and Eva Sheedy (7 kills, 3 aces, 1 block). Coach praised the group’s grit, noting they were just two points shy of forcing a decisive fifth set. ⸻ Girls Golf – IHSAA Sectional At Stonehenge Golf Club, the Lady Pilgrims capped their season with a sixth-place team finish at Sectionals, carding a 413. Taylor Hauptmann and Hanley Feldman paced Plymouth with rounds of 100, followed by Meredith Borden (105), Katy Longanecker (108), and Sydney Manuwal (138). Warsaw won the title with a 337, while Tippecanoe Valley’s Savana Miller earned medalist honors with a 74. ⸻ Freshman Football – Second-Half Surge The Freshman Rockies rallied from an 8–6 halftime deficit to dominate the second half in a 38–8 win over Culver Academy. Plymouth erupted for 32 unanswered points while holding Culver scoreless after the break. Coach summed it up: “The Rockies got off to a rocky start but came together to score 32 in the second half and shut out Culver Academy.” The win moves Plymouth to 4–2 overall and 1–1 in NLC play. ⸻ Boys Soccer – Senior Night Shutout The Varsity boys celebrated Senior Night with a commanding 4–0 victory over Mishawaka. Plymouth struck three times in the first half and added a fourth after the break. Scoring came from Chris Rosas, Angel Mencias, Carlos Nieves, and Dom Zelaya, with assists from Hector Rebollo and Nieves. Coach called it a special win to mark the seniors’ night and the team’s first conference victory. ⸻ Boys Tennis – Tough Road at Goshen The Varsity tennis team fell 5–0 at Goshen. Jonah Rich battled for three games at No. 2 singles, while Nick Manzuk and Owen Walleske competed hard in doubles, winning four games. The JV team dropped an 8–0 decision but continues to gain experience and growth. Coach Hopple highlighted the team’s effort and pointed toward opportunities for improvement in upcoming matches.
