The Plymouth Lady Pilgrims varsity golf team opened their tournament schedule on Monday with a determined showing at the Harrison Invite, placing 7th out of 11 teams at the Battle Ground Golf Club with a team score of 420. The event was won by Center Grove, who posted an impressive 349. Led by sophomore Taylor Hauptmann with a consistent round of 99 (48-51), the Pilgrims embraced the opportunity to measure themselves against strong statewide competition while identifying areas of growth early in the season. Freshman Hanley Feldman carded a 109 (47-62) in her first varsity tournament, while Meredith Borden contributed a 101 (50-51) with solid mid-iron play. Senior Katy Longanecker rounded out the top four with a 112 (56-56), helping push Plymouth past several teams including Faith Christian, Twin Lakes, and Lafayette Jefferson. Despite a challenging day for many across the leaderboard, Head Coach [Insert Coach Name] remained encouraged by the team’s performance. “Today was a great day to get better,” the coach shared. “It may not be the scores they had envisioned, but I was proud of shots I saw from every golfer today. We just need to continue working towards making these shots more frequent and consistent. The short game is an area we can attack right away to see scores drop throughout the season.” Also competing for the Pilgrims was Sydney Manuwal, who shot 143 (71-72) and showed strong resilience through all 18 holes. Notably, the team score for this event was calculated using the lowest four scores per hole, rather than the typical four lowest overall round scores—making each shot count even more toward the team’s total. ⸻ Team Leaderboard – Harrison Invite 1.
