With the spring sun shining and a chill in the air, the Plymouth Lady Pilgrims track and field team delivered one of their most complete and inspiring performances of the season Tuesday night in a dual meet against Northern Lakes Conference powerhouse Warsaw. Though Warsaw ultimately came away with the victory, 82.5–49.5, the night was defined not by the scoreboard, but by the grit, depth, and rising confidence of a Pilgrim squad that is turning heads across the region. Right from the start, Plymouth’s relay team of Lena Jones, Vivy Miller, Joy Everett, and Lauren Gurtner set the tone with a thrilling win in the 4x800m relay, crossing the line in a season-best 10:42.59. The moment sparked momentum that carried throughout the meet. In the sprints and hurdles, Jersey Hunter continued her incredible season, capturing first in the 100m hurdles with a season-best 16.27, while Alexis Doll clocked a personal best 16.99 to take third. Yuli Contreras placed second in the 100m dash behind the defending conference champion and returned later for a strong fourth-place finish in the 200m. Freshman Yuritzy Ramirez continued her breakout season with personal records in both sprint events, inching ever closer to breaking the 14-second mark in the 100. The middle-distance events saw more personal bests roll in. Lena Jones shaved more time off her 1600m mark with a fourth-place 6:01.93, and Lauren Gurtner dropped a PR 2:37.57 in the 800m, good for second in a tight race. Vivy Miller showcased her endurance once again, pulling away in the 3200m run to claim her second consecutive win in the event with a time of 12:29.15. The 4x400m relay capped the night with heart and hustle, as the squad of Joy Everett, Taylor Schadek, Lauren Gurtner, and Eva Macey blazed to a season-best 4:29.07, finishing a close second to one of the top relay teams in the region. In the field events, the Pilgrims proved that their strength is more than just on the track. Sue Everett cleared 4’8” in the high jump for second, with Ava Lloyd and Joy Everett contributing key points. Arielle Ferman earned second in the long jump and third in the pole vault, while shot put was a 1-2 punch from Lloyd (32’8” PR) and Marissa Kmiatek, separated by just one inch. Discus saw Megan Overmyer and Cordelia Cofer throw personal bests to round out scoring in a deep field. Head Coach praised the team’s intensity and effort: “We faced the preseason conference favorites tonight and walked away proud of how we competed. This may be the most points we’ve scored against Warsaw during my time. Our depth and energy are showing up in every event. From freshmen to seniors, we’re seeing improvement meet after meet.” Standout efforts also came from Nevaeh Arnold (both hurdle events), Paige Frank (200m and long jump), and Haileigh Olivarez, whose contributions across relays and jumps continue to bolster team scoring. The coaching staff also applauded the impact of multi-sport athletes, whose versatility is proving crucial in both sprints and field events. ⸻ Next Up: The Lady Pilgrims travel to Northridge this Saturday for the Carmon Cripe Relays. Field events begin at 9:00 AM, with running events starting at 11:15 AM. With momentum building and the season heating up, the Pilgrims look ready to make a statement.
